3 Kings Family Serving Their Community

3 Kings Family Serving Their Community

by Susan Neuhalfen

If you’ve lived in North Texas long enough, chances are, you’ve already been through it once.

Getting a new roof is usually something that homeowners deal with once, maybe twice, in their lifetime. Not here. About every six years or so, North Texas sees a hail storm that causes considerable damage, rendering many roof repairs and replacements. Still, the process is complicated and frustrating. That’s why it’s important to work with an honest, reputable roof company who knows how to handle all that is involved, and do it with the upmost integrity.

3 Kings Roofers is a family owned and operated business covering North Texas. They are A+ rated by the BBB and are a preferred contractor with several insurance companies.

The origin of their name is a Biblical reference. Their vision was to give back to the church and community. They also want to live by the principles set forth by the Bible. They lead by example both in their professional lives as well as their personal lives.

Owner Dustin Cates has spent more than half his life in the construction industry. We decided to ask this seasoned professional about the roofing business and what consumers should know before making the big leap to a new roof.

What is the first thing homeowners should do when they are looking to
get a new roof?

Find a good company that understands the insurance claims process and knows how to handle it properly. A good contractor will make the claim money work the way the homeowner needs it to. 3 Kings Roofing gives free estimates and we find that we beat the cost of pretty much all other comparable roofers by nearly $2,000. We’re a general contractor so if there is additional work to be done, we can take care of that for you with that extra money or you can just keep it.

What are the most important things to look for in a roofer?

First, find out if they are insured. If someone falls or gets hurt, you, the homeowner, are responsible unless the roofer is fully insured. That roof could wind up costing you a lot more than you bargained for if you use someone who is not insured.

Make sure they are locally owned and operated. You want someone who knows the laws and regulations well. You also want your roofer close in case there are problems. The owner, or at least the supervisor, will be there to inspect the property if there are any issues.

Make sure they have great references. Check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure the roofer not only in good standing, but GREAT standing. 3 Kings Roofing is A+ BBB Rated. Internet ratings can’t always be trusted so ask for references – people you can call – who are their former clients. It’s not often that you get a new roof, and it’s not cheap, so make sure you get it done right the first time.

How do homeowners know they aren’t being taken for their insurance money?

You need to have a contractor that is willing to take the time to explain the insurance process. We do this every day so it’s nothing new to us, but to the homeowners, it’s complicated. It shouldn’t be. We are very transparent in our process and will explain everything to our customers.

What should a homeowner NOT do?

Never give the money up front. Be prepared to pay for materials but make sure you have a binding contract. Do not sign a blank or open contract. The last thing you want is for fly-by-night company to take the money and run.

What makes 3 Kings Roofers stand out?

We are A+ BBB rated, fully insured and warranty our workmanship for life. Our customers are customers for life. We give our clients piece of mind knowing that if we build it and there is ever a problem, we will take care of it. We are family owned and operated and, despite the fact that we have grown in size, we never stop giving our customers that personal service that they need on something as important as getting a new roof.

We have been in business since 2010 and now have three offices. Our goal on every job is for our customers to be satisfied to the point of giving us referrals. We have been blessed to rebuild a lot of North Texas and are grateful for the support of home and business owners who have trusted us and continue to refer new business to us.
