Classic of Denton Plays Santa to Friends of the Family

Classic of Denton Plays Santa to Friends of the Family

Since opening its doors over a decade ago, the employees of Classic Mazda Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram have made it a holiday tradition to give generously to their north Texas community.

This year, they truly went above and beyond.

Jessica from Friends of the Family contacted General Manager Rick Wick of Classic of Denton to discuss purchasing a 12 passenger van as theirs was on its last leg. In discussing the need with owner Richard Allen, Allen suggested a brand new 2016 Promaster van that had been converted to a 15-passenger van. As the vehicle costed in excess of $64,000, Wick and Allen agreed to that this would make a great Christmas present for the organization.

“Our goal is to increase our support of the local community year after year, particularly to children,” said owner Richard Allen. “But we want to also expand our reach to others in need, especially during the holidays.”

On Thursday, December 22, Classic of Denton presented “Friends of the Family” with the new 2016 15-passenger van. The employees at Classic of Denton also collected enough presents to give to 100 families in need to be distributed by Friends of the Family.

That was just the tip of the iceberg for the Classic of Denton staff. Every year they have sponsored local families with gifts and food over the holiday season. This year they donated clothes and necessities for 67 homeless children who attend Denton ISD schools. In addition they provided seven turkey dinners, $500 in gift cards and essential items to Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton. They also donated cash, bedding, blankets, towels and toiletries to Monsignor King Outreach Center.

“The spirit of giving back is definitely infectious throughout our entire dealership staff,” explained Rick Wick. “Our employees are determined to set the goals higher every year and challenge ourselves to make the biggest impact we can for those in need right here in Denton.”
