The Only Dentist that Everyone Should NOT Be Afraid Of

Who is afraid of the dentist? Dentistry for most of us has a fearful connotation. We often think of drills and needles. Who in the world would want to see a dentist? I recently sat down and interviewed Dr. Suzanne Thai DDS to find out why a visit with her could change my life forever!
Dr. Thai is becoming a household name in North Texas. Dr. Thai, originally born in Pennsylvania, has proudly called North Texas home for more than 35 years. Dr. Thai has taken dentistry in her office to a new level. Her mission with every single one of her patients is to show them that a dental visit in her office is far from your typical horror movie. Instead, it is a place where people’s health is finally changing for
the better.

In a world where getting anyone to go to the dentist is like pulling teeth, Dr. Thai is the dentist you can’t wait to see.

“That’s my biggest accomplishment — changing people’s views on dentistry,” Dr. Thai said. “People hate going to the dentist. After every dental visit, my goal is for my patient’s to say that they can’t wait to come back. I know my team and I have done our job at that point. We do our best to make everyone feel comfortable when they come here.”

“I had one woman who could hear me coming down the hallway and was in tears before I was in the room. She was so afraid.” Dr. Thai said. “I listen to their traumatic stories and I feel so bad for them. They’re crying, and then I’m crying. We always try to have a safe environment here, and one thing we will never do is lecture. I know they hate going to the dentist, but it’s all about positive reinforcement, and being their cheerleader when it comes to their oral health.”

Dr. Thai has been able to combine the latest in dental technology to provide the patients in the Lake Cities area with the ultimate dental experience.

Her smile is infectious. She has built a practice that is ahead of the curve with cutting-edge technology and both her engaging personality and attitude toward family dentistry fit like a glove with the Lake Cities’ small-town lifestyle.

Dr. Thai, what is one of the most shocking things you have seen while in practice?
What are some of the biggest mistakes that people make when it comes to their teeth?

“Early in my practice, I had a young man in his late 50’s in my chair. He had previously spent over $40,000 to get his Hollywood Smile. He had recently moved to the area from another state and had to find a new dentist. He sat in my chair and I remember him saying ‘Do you like my smile?’ From far away his teeth looked good. It wasn’t until I was doing a thorough exam, that I had to do one of the hardest things to do as a dentist. I had to tell him that he had lost so much bone around his teeth, that now they were all going to have to come out. There was nothing holding his teeth in. He was devastated. He asked me how this could be. He spent so much of his money, and now all of his teeth were going to have to be extracted? Unfortunately, after his extensive dental work, he said that no one ever informed him about the need to maintain his oral health. He was never educated properly on how to take care of his teeth, gums, and bone surrounding them.

“I hate it when I encounter stories like this.” I feel sorry for the patients. Many patients say ‘I wish I met you sooner.’ People do not realize how important oral health is. Did you know that studies show that oral health is directly related to your overall health? Periodontal disease is linked to diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, respiratory tract infections, certain cancers and heart disease. How clean your mouth is can prevent you from having a heart attack.”

One of the many traits that patient’s continue to rave about when talking to Dr. Thai is her ability to not only explain to you what’s going on, but also to show you. Wouldn’t it be nice to actually see what is going on in your mouth? Most visits in Dr. Thai’s office include not only digital x-rays to instantly see your teeth, but also live oral cameras so that you can get the doctors view of what Dr. Thai is seeing. All of these pictures are shown to her patients on large screen TVs. You definitely get the HD experience at Swisher Dental.

Dr. Thai, if I am over 50 years old how can I keep smiling and chewing for the rest of my life?

Can losing your teeth not be a part of getting old? Dr. Thai is one of only a few dentists in North Texas that is certified in a process called Perio Protect. Perio Protect is a new and advanced way to:

Eliminate Bad Breath
Prevent Bone Loss
Prevent Gum Disease

Adding Perio Protect to a simple oral health plan can help you keep your teeth. Wouldn’t it be nice to never have to say hello to dentures? Getting old is hard enough without having to deal with losing your teeth. Dr. Thai’s main goal is to help you KEEP YOUR TEETH for the rest of your life.

What if I can’t afford to go to dentist?

Everything seems expensive, from health insurance to dental insurance. What is someone to do if they can’t afford to go to the dentist? Dr. Thai knows that not taking care of your teeth will always cost you more in the long run both financially and emotionally. Dr. Thai has created her very own Dental Health Savings plan to make it affordable for her patients to get preventative care, and ultimately keep them happier and smiling for the rest of their lives.

“Every patient is important to me” says Dr. Thai. She has been able to integrate the best that technology has to offer with a passion and commitment to her patients that is unrivaled. Dr. Thai is setting a new standard when it comes to patient care.
So if you are tired of being scared of the dentist, if you are at the point where you want to trust your dentist, and if you simply just want to keep your teeth, Dr. Thai is going to make it easy for you.

For the first 20 callers that call 940-312-6939 and mentions that they saw us in “Lake Cities Living” they are going to receive a free comprehensive examination, digital x-rays, and HD quality intraoral pictures of their mouth so that Dr. Thai can fully assess their oral health and keep them smiling for life.
