“Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.” – Carol Bishop Hipps

October is generally considered the beginning of fall and very often is everyone’s favorite time of year. Everything from the fresh dew on the grass, to the sweet smell and crispness in the air, crackling bonfires and weekend football. We get to enjoy the perfect hue of orange and red in the leaves, bright orange pumpkins and vibrant yellow and purple flowers decorating our homes.

With this exciting season upon us, we get to celebrate and enjoy so many wonderful fall festivities in our Lake Cities community. Many of us recently enjoyed the Lake Cities Spirit of Christmas 25th Annual Fun Run at Sycamore Bend Park. The lovely lake scene was perfect for the participants and volunteers to enjoy, as we supported this grand Lake Cities tradition known as “Lake Cities Spirit of Christmas”.

Our cities have fun events scheduled for everyone such as, Corinth’s 1st Annual Pumpkin Palooza and Hickory Creek’s Halloween Festival. Lake Dallas is hosting Trunk or Treat on Main Street on October 31st and much more community fun in store!

As many of us know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month which is designed to increase our awareness of this disease and raise money for research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. In this October issue, we are proud to feature an outstanding group of doctors that are committed to bringing excellent care to area woman all year round. Their progressive and innovative approach to women’s health is adding great value to women in our area. We offer our love and support to women and their families who are currently going through diagnosis, treatment while seeking a cure. While many of us have walked through this disease with a loved one, those of us who have not are committed to stand alongside and share compassion and care to those who are enduring this challenging battle.

Let’s all enjoy the beginning of this delightful season known as autumn. Remember to shop and dine with our local Lake Cities businesses, so that we can all enjoy and sustain the strength of our great community.
