We Keep Corinth Smiling

We Keep Corinth Smiling

by Steve Gamel

Talking about how long he’s been a dentist is often a double-edged sword for Dr. Danny Baird. On the one hand, he wants his patients to have confidence that they are building a relationship with someone who has more than 30 years of experience in general dentistry, but, on the other hand, he jokes that the longevity makes him sound old.

“When you start talking numbers, in my mind, people read this and think, ‘Oh wow, he must be really old. I’m not old,’” Baird, 58, said with a laugh. “I do want them to know I’ve been around for a long time, though. I’ve pretty much seen it all.”

These are exciting times for Baird, who is the proud owner of Baird Family Dental. He just opened his new office off Swisher Rd. in Corinth, just west of Lake Dallas High School, in December and has quickly gained a loyal following in an industry that provides plenty of options for residents – especially in the Lake Cities community.

But Dr. Baird is different. How different? Well, for starters, he’s a home-grown product. The husband and father of two grew up in Lake Dallas. He went to school here and at the University of North Texas before moving on and graduating from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1986. His wife is from here, his kids went to school at Lake Dallas, and many of his longtime friends and family still live right down the street.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Baird has worked in various offices everywhere from Hickory Creek to Flower Mound, Denton, and Cross Roads. Now he’s come back to his roots with his own practice – and he isn’t going anywhere.

“I want to make sure people know this is where I’m from,” said Dr. Baird, who used to own Cornerstone Dental in Hickory Creek before selling it in 2007. “We are not a corporately-owned office. We are private, and we care about the patient and what’s best for them. I want them to feel like they can be long-term patients in a place where their needs are taken care of instead of feeling like they are being rolled off a conveyor belt.”

The entire staff at Baird Family Dental seeks to provide patients with many of the services they come to expect from a general dentistry office, including everything from fillings, cleanings, root canals, implants, and laser therapy to teeth whitening, gum disease treatment, and cosmetic veneers. Dr. Baird has ongoing relationships with other local doctors in the community in the event he needs to refer patients to an orthodontist or an
oral surgeon.

These are all services you can find at any dentist office, but where Baird Family Dental stands out is in the service and quality. Dr. Baird is a gentle, caring dentist who strives to meet the wants and needs of every patient – whether that be a young child to teenagers,
adults, and grandparents.

Dr. Baird continually seeks to expand his knowledge about new dental techniques through ongoing education courses to ensure you receive the most current care available.

“I’m not reinventing the wheel here, but what we are doing is staying up to date on everything and providing the best care so that we can pass that on to our patients,” Dr. Baird said.

There are two other key points of interest when it comes to Baird Family Dental. For one, Dr. Baird has structured his practice to meet the scheduling needs of any patient. That includes offering Saturday appointment times. Dr. Baird has also partnered with the University of North Texas for the last several years and, with the opening of his new 2,700 square-foot practice, he operates a dental assisting school called PDI. It is here that aspiring students can learn how to become a dental assistant, and when they leave, they are fully certified.

Bottom line: Baird Family Dental may be the new kid on the block when it comes to the myriad of dental options Lake Cities residents have. But the experience, unrivaled education, and attentiveness to every patient’s needs make Dr. Baird the local dentist everyone should get to know.

“I’ve been searching for this opportunity for a while,” Dr. Baird said. “This is where I want my practice. It’s my home.”
