It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We can’t deny the joyous and warm feelings that accompany every Christmas season. Somehow, it’s just easier to be more cheerful and generous during the holidays.  From sharing season’s greetings with perfect strangers to attending social gatherings with our friends and families, we all know what it feels like to have the Christmas spirit.

Lake Cities is filled with the Christmas spirit too!  There are many annual holiday events that celebrate the strength and closeness of our community.  The fun-filled city tree lightings provide our families a way to enjoy traditions and create memories.  We get to enjoy lovely choral performances, dancing puppets, decorating cookies and crafts and the highlight of every child’s year, getting to meet and visit with Santa Claus.  These are the beautiful moments that we all cherish and long for year after year.

Local businesses plan fun holiday events to show support by collecting toys, coats and necessary donations for the community.  There is also the tradition of honoring and appreciating our beloved seniors.  This year Lake Cities celebrated the 37th Annual  Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner and Reunion at the Lake Cities Methodist Church.  It is always wonderful to share this time of year with our seniors as they reminisce and reunite with friends at this annual event.

After all of the Christmas parties are attended and we bid farewell to our holiday house guests, we are suddenly faced with the year’s end.  We reflect upon our lives and begin to look ahead to the hopes of a new year to come.

The familiar hymn Auld Lang Syne will begin to play and stir recent memories as well as past.  We are reminded that preserving friendships and reflecting on our joys and pains gives wisdom and strength to face a new year.

2017 will likely bring new friendships, personal growth, celebrations and challenges into our lives.  Enjoy the beauty of the season and spread love and good cheer to everyone!

Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah!
Happy New Year! 2017
